Avoid large meals.
Do not lie down after meals, for 2 hours.
Do not go to bed immediately after dinner, for 2 hours.
Avoid spicy and fatty foods, and sweets.
Avoid these food items: raw tomatoes, onions, pickles, canned food, citrus fruit, coffee, chocolates, and soft drinks.
Avoid smoking, alcohol.
Raise the head end of the bed with the help of blocks (6" to 8" in height).
Reduce weight, if you are overweight.
Mental relaxation therapy like yoga is advised to relieve mental stress.
Avoid drinking more than 2 cups of coffee/tea a day.
Do not wear tight fitting clothes.
Do not lift heavy materials. Avoid bending down.
