Anti-Reflux measures


  • Avoid large meals.

  • Do not lie down after meals, for 2 hours.

  • Do not go to bed immediately after dinner, for 2 hours.

  • Avoid spicy and fatty foods, and sweets.

  • Avoid these food items: raw tomatoes, onions, pickles, canned food, citrus fruit, coffee, chocolates, and soft drinks.

  • Avoid smoking, alcohol.

  • Raise the head end of the bed with the help of blocks (6" to 8" in height).

  • Reduce weight, if you are overweight.

  • Mental relaxation therapy like yoga is advised to relieve mental stress.

  • Avoid drinking more than 2 cups of coffee/tea a day.

  • Do not wear tight fitting clothes.

Do not lift heavy materials. Avoid bending down.
